CIA MEETING

DECEMBER 10, 2007

ATTENDEES: George Drew, Cindy Donlon, Linda Black, Linda Berger, Linda Coleman, Jamie Coleman, Bob Phillips, John Lewis

The team agreed to meet on the third Wednesday of every month. We expect that sub-committees will meet during the month.

Linda asked about school improvement work being organized through leadership team in light of board’s discussion of reducing planning time.

Goal setting for the CIA committee was discussed. Bob asked Tom Sedore to talk about the goal setting process for the freshman academy. A review of data drove the goal setting process.

2007-2008 Goals for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Committee

· Growing best practices of freshman academy

o Valuing effective effort

o Instructional strategies

o Better partnerships with parents

o Continuous reflection and focus on improvement (collegiality)

· Content coordination within departments

· Common rubrics to provide more consistency in instruction (English department has started to have this discussion about writing

· Review of scheduling models

· Career pathways-the relevancy piece; student engagement

· Guide professional development

· Building a professional learning community that is teacher driven

· Growing best practices in technical education-relationship,interest, context.

Request input from faculty (through greenie) to prioritize goals.
