Communications Committee Agenda
Distributed and reviewed document.
Recommendations based
upon Survey of Faculty
Committee reviewed faculty and staff feedback from the internal survey conducted by the committee in the Spring of 06. Highlights are noted below:
ü Three day limit for notices.
ü Notices first, meetings second, and sports last.
ü Read at the same time throughout school.
ü Need to update and improve content.
ü Training provided for all interested.
ü Consistent format be made available.
ü All departments have a page that lists, at a minimum, Faculty and email addresses.
ü School Website become the home page on all computers throughout the school.
ü Beth Bicknell and Donna Gibbs are clearinghouse for all events.
ü Need to ensure that class advisors and new student council advisors are aware of the process.
ü Awareness
of the calendar could be improved.
ü We need an events approval process similar to field trips.
ü
Much discussion about required use of school
email addresses.
ü While this is a priority, we need effective spam filtering. Mike cited clearing 300 spams from this weekend.
ü We need to inform faculty and staff about how to access school email from home.
ü Numerous requests for a Email software other than Eudora. Several reasons were cited, especially it’s difficulty in sending mail to AOL users.
ü Great deal of interest in seeing a school email address book be created and put on the shared drive.
ü Strong feelings about minimizing the number of announcements.
ü Limit announcements to the last five minutes of TA.
ü Need an assessment of speaker volumes be done throughout school. Inconsistent volumes.
ü Reviewed distribution.
ü Generally positive comments about its community role.
ü Department chairs want to provide input and need to learn of timeframes for submission.
ü This is a student publication. Faculty comments will be shared with advisor and student editors..
ü Concern raised about files on shared drive disappearing.
Next meeting will focus upon development of a brief
community survey that looks at effectiveness of our communication efforts.
Committee was made aware of recent district wide administrative focus upon improving communication regarding schools.
