  • Auto Trades: Reported by Ed Stout
    • Recap:
      • Addition of the Auto Trades Program
        • Running at capacity; limited space an issue for all Tech programs
        • Maybe work in collaboration with a nonprofit business in Barre
    • Concerned about shipping kids offsite
      • What kind of supervision would they receive?
      • Is the business non-profit?  Concerned about exploitation of students
      • If a student is fired or kicked out, where are they placed?
    • Students can’t get into the program because of over enrollment
      • 40-50 students apply; only 16 accepted
    • Pre-auto/pre-tech program
      • Facilities/equipment issues
      • Juniors
    • WIB Board
      • Create curriculum for Tech Center
      • Don’t pay attention to student’s desires
      • Focus too much on Barre instead of entire sending region
    • Auto shop not used 4th block
      • Can we have a pre-auto class then?
        • Busing from sending schools is an issue.
        • Would need to move work from kids in the tech program
        • Need a chain link fence to keep cars that are being worked on safe
        • Still a facilities issue
        • Build an additional site elsewhere?
  • Pre-Tech
    • Create academy?
      • 2 year program
      • Take quarter classes
      • 3 blocks?  What about core academics?
      • Facilities issue
      • What kind of prereq’s to get into the program?
        • Tech math?
        • Tech English?
      • Sending school students here all day?
      • We would be approaching a 4yr tech program
      • Could we use underutilized facilities at another school?
  • Expansion of Certification Program to reach more students
    • Electrical and plumbing; diesel; farm equipment; law enforcement; agriculture
    • Looking for programs that can get gainful employment immediately after school without post secondary ed
    • Could still get post secondary ed in those fields, but not necessary for employment
    • Students who have completed the tech program tend to start job with higher wage
  • Entrepreneurship class hasn’t started yet
    • Supposed to be 2-3 weeks within pretech
    • Have it as a night class too?
  • RAB: regional advisory board
    • Get outside info for suggestions
    • If we have people with influence we can push things through
