Group spoke about activities that occurred last year during the April wellness day.  Culinary arts program to consider baked/roasted vegetables being offered.  Wendy to confer with Penny regarding heart healthy choices that day.  Last years activities were offered all day but this year activities to take place during blocks 1-3 as there is no wellness class block 4 that can supervise stations/activities. EPSDT funding has allowed for $500 for wellness day activities of which eight $20 gift certificates will be purchased from Barre City merchants. Lola and Kathy willing to obtain these.  Nancy willing to make up color coded tickets for students to enter into prize drawings after participating in activities.

Foods for taste testing:  whole grain breads, baked pita chip with salsa,, beets, edamane, different colored peppers, jicama, hummus dip to go with vegetables for enhanced flavor. Also considered star fruit, kiwi, mango, and papaya. Activity may include matching the name of a food to what they are taste-testing.

Nancy has walking routes still available from last year. Will get notice out a week prior to events to faculty and then a reminder on the 11th. A rainy day plan will allow for limited walking routes available in the gymnasium on a pre-sign up basis with first come first served. Teachers also to consider other indoor walking routes.

Next meeting:  Friday, 10/6/06 in room 6 from 7:30 - 8:00
