Check for availability with Beth Bicknell. She’ll give you a sign up form to fill out.

burn a CD?

Library and digital classroom computers have CD burners.  For course-related projects, check with a library staff  member if you need a recordable CD.

burn a DVD?

Unfortunately the computer lab, library and digital classroom computers do not have DVD burners so you can’t do this yourself.  For course-related projects, contact Joan Shedd x148 to have a DVD burned.

use a library computer to save student work to the network?

Use the ‘shared drive’ (s:).  For example, to save a document for your science class, drill down through the s: drive folders: Science/Mr. McSweeney/AP Physics & make a folder with your name where you can save your document.

use Groupwise email?

Consult the IT Department’s GroupWise instructions located on the r: drive

show a YouTube video in class?

YouTube.com is currently filtered (blocked) on campus, but you can download a video on your home computer, save it to a flash drive, and request that IT install FLV player on your classroom computer. Alternately, search teachertube.com for educational videos (this site is not blocked).

create my own blog?

Go to blogger.com or wordpress.com to create a free blog. 

set up my own wiki?

Go to wikispaces.com and create a wiki you can use for classroom instruction.

access my ‘favorites’ or ‘bookmarks’ on any computer?

Instead of storing your bookmarks on your computer’s hard drive, use a social bookmarking website like del.ico.us or sign up for a Google account and use ‘Google Bookmarks.’

create an online group?

You can create a free online group for sharing discussions, links, uploading files including photos.  Go to Google Groups or Yahoo! Groups to get started.
