Morning Block Music - Chorus
Students must now choose to enroll in either Band or Chorus. This change
has been made in order to better meet the proficiency standards outlined
in the Vermont and National Framework. These full-year music courses meet
4 days per week, with the fifth day open for students to choose either extra
help from other teachers, or select chorus or musicianship lessons.
Chorus, Credit 1, FNA101
This full-year course is open to all students who wish to have performance
experience. Prior vocal experience is not required. This class meets five
days per week during the morning block. Attendance at public performances
that take place beyond school hours is required and will be a factor in grading.
Chorale, Credit 1, FNA104
This course is for advanced vocal students. Students will be divided into
soprano, alto, tenor, and bass and sing in four part harmony. Public performances
and community activities that take place beyond school hours are required
and will be a factor in grading. Students must be concurrently enrolled
in Chorus FNA103 while taking chorale. Prerequisite: Advanced vocal skills
and teacher recommendation.
Adaptive Music, Credit 1, FNA107
This course satisfies the fine arts graduation requirement. This course
is designed to meet the needs of students who require a modified and individualized
approach to music. Prerequisite: Recommendation required from Case Manager.
School Counselor and music instructor.
Music Theory, FNA301
This course is designed for music students who wish
to gain an understanding of the form, structure, and sound of music.
This course will provide the opportunity for students to compose music
and receive feedback from teachers and peers. Students will be taught
music theory and then be offered practice in theory concepts through
computer assisted compositions. Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation
only.
AP Music Theory, Credit 2, FNA401
This college level course will prepare students
for the Advanced Placement Music Theory Exam. This exam will cover such
things as melodic and harmonic dictation, composition, sight reading,
music history, and harmonic analysis. This course is highly recommended
for college bound music students. Prerequisite: Teacher recommendation
and FNA301. |
