Music is an essential part of life. We in the music
department know that the study and performance of music enhances the
growth and development of every individual who chooses to tap into this
resource. This study and technical development builds qualities that
can be applied to everyday life. Physically, a musician must gain control
over his or her voice or instrument. Mentally, a musician is open to
new ideas, trains of thought, and techniques. Next, one must be willing
to appreciate the input and direction of others, because we all learn
from each other. Emotionally, music is a powerful language that can be
understood around the world regardless of culture. This happens because
we, as a people, are related and music strengthens that bond. Our music
department is a gift to anyone who wants to take part in an open, caring,
and supportive setting. It is a resource to encourage the growth and
development of all who join
