Exploring
Popular Music, Credit 1, FNA102
This class will trace the development of American popular music
from its roots in the blues, through jazz and early rock and roll,
continuing through present styles of rock music. This class will
involve lecture, listening, viewing, student research, and essays.
Jazz Ensemble, Credit 1, FNA120
This course is open to all students having
prior Jazz Ensemble experience or permission from the instructor. This class
meets five days a week each semester. Students are encouraged to join for
the entire year as most of the repertoire is learned semester one and performed
semester two. Therefore, new students will be seated below year-long students.
Students must also be able to play one of the following instruments: trumpet,
saxophone, trombone, piano, bass, drums or guitar. If the student is unable
to meet this final requirement for very serious reasons; the instructor may
grant a waiver. Students must be concurrently enrolled in Band FNA110.
