The phoenix was a fabled bird in Greek mythology. It
had brilliant gold and reddish purple feathers, and was as large or larger
than an eagle. At the end of each life cycle, the Phoenix burned itself
on a funeral pyre. From the ashes arose a new "Phoenix" with renewed
youth and beauty. This dramatic rebirth from its own ashes, made it
a symbol of spiritual rebirth.
The Phoenix Program strives to give students a chance
to start over and to allow their education to be reborn. Through a
desire to change their direction and create a new attitude, education will
become the key to a new and better life.
The Phoenix Program has a director/teacher
who manages the program and teaches in two academic areas. It also
includes a certified teacher who covers two additional academic areas.
Up to 30 students can be served by the program and parent involvement is
encouraged. Interest from the community is essential for the ongoing
success of the Phoenix Program.
