RE: Phoenix Program/ End of Year Report

With the end of the 1998-99 school year fast approaching I would like to share with the board some results from Phoenix. This year flew by for Brad Bessette and myself. Surprisingly, most of our students commented the same.

The learning curve has been steep as to best serve our unique population, but we both agree this is a very rewarding and enlightening endeavor. Although our goal was to have everyone succeed we now understand we cannot save them all. However, we have linked with the G.E.D. program in Barre and now have an alternative for students who cannot meet our structure.

Presentations about the Phoenix Program were delivered to the Barre Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, and the Lions Club to build community support, all went quite well. We will develop three new courses over the summer to compliment the 17 now offered. In addition I will work with students and their employers over the summer to monitor employment and the granting of elective credits.

Please see below for a statistical breakdown of the 1998-99 school year.
