Siempre  me ha interesado ayudar a las personas a comunicarse.  De joven estuve en un ambiente en donde todo ocurria en espanol y en ingles.  Esto me ayudo a entender la importancia de los dos idiomas.  Aprendi que los idiomas tienen peso cultural y es la cultura la que domina el significado de las palabras.  Las culturas no son estaticas, estan siempre en evolucion, cambio y en estudio de otras culturas.  Diferentes culturas influyen a otras culturas.  Asi  la vida  se hace mas dinamica e interesante.  Es muy divertido siempre y cuando se respeten los elementos culturales en su espacio y tiempo.  Cuando una cultura domina a otra cultura resulta en la negacion y el estancamiento de la otra o de ambas.  Espero que todos mis estudiantes de espanol aprendan a comunicar sus ideas en espanol, pero aun mas importante que aprendan que el contexto de un idioma es la escencia de un grupo de gente, de otro mundo con peso y   valor propio.

I’ve always been interested in helping people to communicate. As a young person, I was exposed to an environment where everything occurred in Spanish & English. This helped me to understand the importance of two languages. I learned that languages have cultural weight and the culture is what controls the meaning of the words. Cultures are not stagnant, they are always evolving, and changing and in the process of studying other cultures. Different cultures influence other cultures. This makes life more dynamic and interesting. It’s  much fun as long as cultures are respected within their own space & time. When one culture dominates another culture, it results in negation and stagnation of the other culture or both. I hope that all my Spanish students learn to communicate their ideas in Spanish, but more important still, that they learn the context of a language is the essence of a group of people, of another world with it’s own weight & worth.
