DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS

1. Fixes salary of all personnel not covered by contract.

2. Acts as legislative body to formulate policies and
approve rules and regulations.

3. Is responsible for compliance with Vermont education
laws. Complies with the state law to meet the safety conditions in the schools.

4. Appoints members to the Supervisory Union Board.

5. Considers and adopts course of curriculum.

6. Upon recommendation of the superintendent, determines
qualifications and approves contracts with all
professional school employees.

7. Approves or rejects recommendations for dismissal of
professional school employees.

8. Adopts budget.

9. Enters into negotiations with teachers, administrators,
and custodians.

10. Is responsible for expulsion of students.

11. Is responsible for the maintenance of all school
buildings and property.

12. Determine the school calendar.
