HIRING PROCESS
1.0 INTRODUCTION
There are two levels of committee: The School Board Hiring Committee, made up of board members who will have ultimate selection responsibility for recommending to the full board and an Advisory Hiring Committee, which in addition to the above mentioned School Board Hiring Committee, can include any or all of the following: Teachers, Department Chairs, High School Administration, Central Office Administration, Citizens at Large and Students.
Together they will be known as "The Hiring Committee". Participants will be named by the Chair of the School Board in collaboration with the Superintendent for each position that opens and needs to be filled. (If the position is a Union District position, the chairs from both Spaulding High School and Barre City Schools boards will participate in naming the committees.)

The School Board Hiring Committee will:
Recommend the most qualified, viable candidate to the full School Board for approval.
The School Board, at it's discretion, may determine in advance that it wants to do the final interview(s). In this case the School Board Hiring Committee will recommend the predetermined number of candidates (if they are available) to the full board. In cases where there are more than one qualified candidate, the Hiring Committee is encouraged to rank them in order of preference to reduce the amount of work if the first candidate should decline for any reason.
