ATHLETIC PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY:
Athletic activities are an integral part of the educational program and school life at Spaulding High School. Athletic activities should result in the learning of lifetime recreational skills, increased self-confidence, and improved health. Spaulding athletic programs enable students to enjoy their sport and foster a sense of commitment to themselves, their teammates, their school, and their community.
The purposes of Spaulding athletic programs are:
1.0 To provide a wide basis of participation in both team and individual sports.
2.0 To develop a strong program by encouraging and developing
athletes in all sports and providing sufficient opportunity for students to develop individual ability.
3.0 To encourage the development of team spirit among all members of the team and their coaches.
4.0 To develop positive attitudes of pride, sportsmanship, and ethical behavior in students, participants, and spectators.
5.0 To develop a strong program by teaching fundamentals and techniques of each sport in a progressive sequence as appropriate for all participants.
6.0 To develop and promote a healthy relationship between athletic teams, the students, faculty and community.
7.0 To insure that an individual's education must consist of many learning opportunities and that athletic participation is but one part of that experience.
