STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS

It is the opinion of the Spaulding High School Union Board that student input and opinions are critical to the operation of the High School. To meet that goal, the SHS Board agrees that there will be up to two student members who will sit at the table with the elected School Board members. Their role will be advisory and, as such, their vote will not be part of the legal binding vote of the Board, but will be recorded in the minutes.

As Advisory Board members, the following will be expected:

1. Up to two student representatives will be elected to serve on the Spaulding High School Board. The process of election will be up to the SHS student body, but it must be inclusive of the whole student population.

2. Student Advisory Board members will be the voice of, and for, the SHS student body and, as such, will work closely with that population to solicit ideas and issues for Board consideration.

3. Student members are welcome to submit items for the agenda for approval by the Board Chair.

4. Student Advisory Board members will be expected to follow all the rules and expectations set aside for Board members, including attendance, ethics and serving on other committees, if needed.

5. Student Advisory Board members will be elected to one and/or two year alternating terms. A student Advisory Board member may serve on the Board for up to four years.

6. Student Advisory Board members will not be allowed to attend executive sessions.
